BBQ Recipe 3: Which sausages for the family barbeque?

We aimed to list some of the most famous bbq recipes in this series of articles but we have found that many of our bbq customers don't know the very basic details needed to host a successful family or summer bbq, like for example how to pick the best possible bbq sausages for the occasion!



Tests have been done on many of the UK's top sausages in order to find the best possible combination of taste, texture and appeal for the barbeque grill! We put the following barbeque sausages to test: Linda McCartney's Vegetarian Sausages, Porkinson Bangers, Tesco Finest Aberdeen Angus Beef Sausages, Tesco Finest Pork and Leak Sausages, Herta Jumbo Frankfurters and Organic Pork and Apple Sausages. We put each of these sausages on our portable barbeque (and even tried it on gas barbeques, electric barbeques and charcoal barbeques for any cynics out there who don't understand that the fuel does not make any difference whatsoever to the taste of the bbq food).



We then served the sausages to our judges one by one straight off the bbq grills. They had no idea which was which so it was a completely fair test.



Overall the winner was the Porkinson which scored a total of 85% based on the three bbq criteria of taste, texture and appeal. The appeal category covers the size, smell and moreishness of each sausage and each judge was allowed to give any extra feedback on their experience of each mouthful.



You don't even need to break the bank when you buy these sausages either, at under £2 for a packet, you can eat really well and healthily at this year's summer bbq. You really need to get your choice of sausage right when you are hosting a barbeque-it is all very well having all the outdoor barbeque equipment and bbq accessories (and we do of course recommend that you take a look at our fine selection) but in the end, your guests have come for the fine chat and the splendid food so make sure you don't disappoint. Of the fine food, the sausages are probably the most important as well, especially at a UK barbeque!



The vegetarian sausage did pretty well when pitted against its meat counterparts so just because you are a veggie, don't think you cannot enjoy a family bbq as much as all of us.
